Japan's births showed a increasing decline in 2022, and a staggering decline in 2023. Which bodes very poorly for Japan's ongoing survival as a nation. This is over and above the already declining births due to aging population and social pressures. More than half of Japan's population are aged 48 or above, the median age of the population. https://x.com/SuperSally888/status/1778580711651553673
Those numbers are absolutely staggering, and yet yesterday's main stream news reported that Japan, USA and Australia had agreed to a joint missile defence plan, they fear a possible attack from China but don't fear the actual mass death of their own people.
Japan and the Philippines are similar in magnitude. The USA 1.5 million, Russia 1.2 million and Brazil 1.0 million. These are all truly tragic numbers and the sad part is it's only the beginning.
Philippines generally has had very poor booster uptakes (less than 1/4 of the population, though unfortunately the boosted were generally the more highly educated professionals working in large cities).
The other factor (which is unspoken) is that an unknown proportion of Filipinos took double primary series; typically 2 doses of sinovax (Chinese-made) followed by 2 doses of an mRNA product.
Covid-19 vaccines are no longer available in the Philippines.
Given the fact of few boosters and a generally younger population (average age in the Philippines is about 25.3), in the long run I hope that Philippines will fare better than some of her neighbors.

The Philippines had a really devastating death toll from the primary series vaccines, and most particularly the Janssen, which is the hottest lot in the universe! https://open.substack.com/pub/supersally/p/short-release-the-hottest-covid-19?r=l1r7e&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
